We did a night trek and took the “new trail” to the summit, and there we pitched camp. The mountain is said to have derived its name from the words bato which means rock and ilaw meaning light. These photos were taken the day after, while going back to the jump-off point, EverCrest. The trek down was scorching hot since Mount Batulao doesn’t have trees to shade mountaineers from the sun during day. But its lack of trees makes its real beauty visible to anyone climbing it. The carpet of Cogon grass complements with the mountain’s noticeable structure. Truly a feast for the eyes!
